Vote Valounny De La Cruz For President

I have proudly served with the USPS for over 30 years at the City of Fullerton. I am currently running for President of our Local Union, Southwest Coastal Area Local 917, and I would be honored to have your support. I have been a Union Steward for 15 years, beginning in 2010, including 9 years as Chief Steward, a role I continue to serve in today. In addition, I have served as a member of the Trustee Committee for the past 6 years and continue in that role as well.
I’ve actively attended many of the Union conventions and conferences training in order to deepen my understanding of union governance, leadership and member advocacy. Through this experience, I have gained a strong appreciation for financial transparency, checks and balances, and responsible oversight of local union spending to ensure members’ dues are protected and used effectively.
As a current Chief Steward and USPS employee, I understand what it takes to secure strong representation and achieve outcomes that favor our members. Through out my career, I have faced complex and challenging situations with management, including attempts to coerce me into signing a letter of resignation during my first pregnancy, as well as experiences of sexual harassment, intimidation, and an unjustified emergency suspension. No employee should ever be subjected to this type of treatment. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to stranding gap for workers’ rights, holding management accountable, and ensuring that every member is treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. Instead, of backing down, I filed additional grievances, reported serious issues to then-Congressman Ed Royce, and participated in a protest at the Fullerton Main Office to demand the removal of an abusive Postmaster. These actions drew public attention and were covered by multiple news outlets in 2001, including Noticia. This applies to any management member, now or in the future; if they act out of line, I will ensure they adhere strictly to the rules.
I also supported members outside of my office when they reach out, including filing EEO complaints, providing guidance through the grievance process, and ensuring their concerns were properly documented and addressed.
If elected, I will make sure you receive fair treatment and proper representation. The Local needs a strong leader and I will make sure you receive well deserved representation that has been long overdue. Every grievance will be investigated thoroughly, you are my priority and I am for the members of Local 917. Ensuring strong working conditions is a priority for me, as I befriend a supportive and safe environment allows employees to feel valued, respected, and motivated. To the members that are not working at the Plants, I will put all effort to stop by your office within the first 6 months in office, especially offices without Union Stewards.
Your trust will be honored through my actions.
Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,
Valounny De La Cruz
